  • Day at the Park

    Anna & Paul Hawkins

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Jan. 2, 2017)
What is the book about? Two young brothers visit the playground daily but have grown tired of the same old swing set and slide. They learn to see ordinary objects at the park in new, imaginative ways. About the writing: The story is written in a simple 4-line rhyming style (ABCB) with minimal text, and is an easy picture book that young children will enjoy listening to, and adults will appreciate. Children aged 6 and up will probably be capable of reading this book with very little help from an adult. About the illustrations: The organic handmade illustrations in this book include charming and colorful watercolor sketches (by Paul Hawkins) with full-color mixed-media art (by Anna Hawkins). Very basic digital editing was used on a few illustrations (color-correction for printing) but the artwork is definitely not considered digital; the drawings, paintings, and imagination scenes were created by hand.
